I know this game has been a a sort of stand still, but im finally all set to go ahead. I've got a bunch of quests ready, a slew of cool new NPCs, and I finally have a solid primary Villain for you guys to fight right now. All in all, Im fully prepared.

So, Sky and Cal both just exited the town. Currently you two and the wounded Lizardman are running through a field. Ahead of you is a short treeline leading into the woods you saw earlier.

how badly injured is the lizardman?

Calvin killed the only vampire hunter in town, they let the second guy just leave, and they didnt bother to search the building for weaponry (the vampire hunter's building, which had many weapons devoted to this function).

since the whole series main draw is a victorian vampire, these 2 problems start cascading.

killing npcs 4 no reason never helps. killing them for a reason helps. toruring them untill they give you a reason helps. killing, not so much.

You run through the field for a good 10 minutes, until the only sign of the town are small red specks of flame and plumes of smoke. You can still make out a few screams, presumably those who survived the initial assault.

Up ahead of you, maybe a thousand feet or so, is a small red light. It's barely visible, and seems to move back and forth.

"will-o-wisp? where to now?"
Take a quick look around. Anyone following? cover? hows the lizard minion doing?

You dont notice anybody following you, and the only cover around you are large rocks interspersed across the field. Your lizard friend is quickly bleeding out all over the ground.

k "Hey gecko theres a guy up ahead, big tough lookin' group, I say we stealth, and check it out before going in." Go into stealth mode and move off to the side and approach the group for recon assessment.

Hmm... on the one hand, I am the steath king here... on the other, if I leave calvin here with my minion, he's going to knife him.

I'll tell cal to stay with the minion and I'll go scout the place.

I'd just like to point out that you can see maybe 8 feet in front of you. Calvin has perfect vision.

But from a stealth perspective, you are better.

I'd say we're both suited for this job, but yes sky should go... if I know of a way to keep this guy alive to be shot by the new guys I'm gonna try that, if not I'll just laugh at his agony while he dies...

You stealth and head forward. Moving within your line of sight, you can see the men Calvin was talking about. If they're human, they shouldnt be able to see you for another 10 or 12 feet.

6. Shadow (living shadows. Considered the greatest of hunters)
7. Archimedes Engine (Mechanical men, built long ago and powered by arcane energy. The rarest of all races)

11. Plants (Plants. Specifically trees.)
12. Formless (Intangible spirits that need to possess people in order to interact with the physical world. Currently a human male)

You wait with the wounded and dying lizardman. Pretty soon a man comes out in white. He tells you he's the doctor, and asks whether you want to come in with your minion or stay out here.



Calvin, you ask.

The Vampire turns to the elf.

"We should show him the scriptures."

The elf nods.

"Very well. We will reconvene in one hour."

Everyone except the elf, drow and vampire stands and leaves. When only the three remain, they walk to the large, central door that forms the thirteenth and most visible door (but from which no thirteenth council member emerged). The Vampire pushes the doors open, and a long hallway illuminates before you. The walls are lined with paintings, chunks of rock with characters drawn on them, and a myriad of other artistic depictions.

(Damn, this is gonna take awhile. Ill put up more later, maybe tomorrow.)

I go in with the minion. Any scent of euthanasia and I'm going to tear the doctor's throat out.

Calvin:

The three council members walk you along the passageway. Paintings from nearly every era of history adorn the walls. Though the contents of each picture differ in basic content, they all have three things in common: A prominent figure with black skin, another figure enclosed in a circle, and a large field of what appears to be trees. The level of detail differs from depiction to depiction, and in some paintings the figures are more elaborate. In these paintings, the dark-skinned figure is clearly a lean humanoid with white hair (likely a drow), the second figure is portrayed as a nobleman, and the forest is clearly not made up of trees (unfortunately you still have no idea what it IS made up of).

The vampire seems the most knowledgeable of the three. His comments and explanations are much more precise and elaborate. He sounds like he was there, which might be possible given his race.

The story goes that at the dawn of time, before humans ever evolved into what they are now, the prominent races of the day gathered together against what they describe as infinite evil. They fought valiantly, but where ultimately defeated. In a last attempt at victory, the group made a deal with a powerful demi-god. If the demi-god delivered the power to destroy the infinite evil some time before armageddon, they would devote their existence to their new lord's will. The deal was made, and the council has been serving the demi-god ever since.

Apparently one of the conditions of the deal was to provide an update on the power's arrival. The Demi-god would periodically inspire artists to paint elaborate scenarios depicting the power's triumphs over the evil. The art displayed here are the most influential of those updates.

Anyway, they believe you are the drow in the paintings. The small stone that glowed was another condition, a way to test for the power.

meanwhile, the lizardman, not being the nexus of ancient divine power, dies of starvation while the plot exposition is going on.

Funny guy. Figured you'd be one to wait your turn. Spotlights coming.

Okay Sky. The doctor leads you and the on-empty lizardman down a few white corridors to an examination room. He enters first, followed by you and your comrade. The moment you enter, you sense something's wrong. Nothing seems out of place, but your intuition tells you otherwise.

How many doors are there?

Look at the doctor, licking my teeth. "I think my friend here is deathly ssscared of needlesss doctor. Particulerly onesss with poissson."

There's the two doors you entered through, and that's it. The hallway kept going, and there were a few more doors along the corridor.

"Im not going to kill him. Nor would I need poison. It would seem he's dying quite well on his own. Now, do you intend to be difficult throughout this, or would you prefer to shut up and help me with him?"

"Tell me what to do."

Seriously, I hope this guy isn't plot critical. Otherwise you're going to have a problem if the lizardman dies.

I figured that. He's 100% Grade-A replaceable.

"Help me get him onto the table, then hold him down. This is going to hurt. A lot."

Aid him however I can.

You hold him down. The doctor reaches into a nearby drawer and pulls out a small satchel, roughly half a foot long and slightly less wide. He unzips the side and opens the packet, revealing a metal syringe and three needles. He pulls a small vial from the same drawer and fills the syringe with the murky green liquid. Your companion is rather still, even as the needle slips under his skin. Within a few moments the injection is finished.

"Keep him down. The injection should kick iin after a minute or so. Ill go get the transfusion material."

He pulls a small dart-gun from his coat pocket and hands it to you.

"Only as a last resort. There's one shot loaded already."

He vanishes behind the double-doors and his footsteps echo down the hall.

Did he say what this last resort entailed?
Eh, wait for him to return.

Why do I suddenly have my head filled with visions of SW, episode I? Are there droidekas around anywhere? Two warriors, and the only living person from the other side just left the room....

He didnt mention exactly what it was for, but he inferred it was to down your companion if necessary.

You wait for a minute or so, when your friend begins to convulse. He lets out a few quick, shallow breaths before screaming at the top of his lungs. He sits straight up with a crazed and vicious look in his eyes.

You have drawn an eerie parallel.

Now I'm thinking more along the lines of Micheal Crichton's [i]Prey[i] actualy. Possibly 28 days later.

I forget, is he strapped down? It's a bit late now to do anything about it, but I wanted to know.

Back up to the door,back to the wall about a foot from the door. Anything in here I can use as a sheild? A hunk of steel paneling about 6ft by 4ft would be ideal, but anything down to a trashcan lid I could use as a buckler would work.

He isnt strapped down.

There's a medical tray, metal. About 1 ft by 1 ft. It's on the same set of drawers the doctor pulled the needle case out of.

Once more, an eerie parallel.

Well dang. Remind me- when introducing potential allies, I gotta remember not to have them start by shooting at the player.

Hmm. I suppose I blew it with the rats, but hey, nobody has seriously tried to work with them, so nothing lost.

Well let's see. You ditched Cal, 7 and Mort. Cal and 7 are taking this well, but im pretty sure you've pissed Mort off yet again.

But at the moment, i think we ended the last time with Mort chasing you into the hallway.

"That's not gonna work this time...."

He smiles broadly and stares directly at you.

Smart guy. How can he see me if I'm not moving?

What do I have left to throw at him, why can't I teleport again, and can I catch his thrown blades like he can mine?

You have a bunch of scalpels. You expended all of your energy teleporting earlier. No, you cannot catch his knives like he can yours. You can, however, dodge relatively well.

You move through the black corridor, Calvin in front and Sky in back. Mort is laughing calmly, something he hasnt done before.

You've almost made it to the door, about 50 feet left. Suddenly the lights flash on brighter then they originally were, and the lightbulbs systematically explode in showers of glass (beginning from the stairwell and ending at the door, all within a matter of seconds). Despite this, the lights remain on, albeit dimly. The explosions cause the sprinklers to go off.

So, you're standing in a dimly-lit hallway, it's pseudo-raining, and Mort is finding something very amusing. Fun, right?

Would it be retconning to say that I've been camoed throughout this whole thing?
Would it be metagaming to know that that isn't going to help?

Question- I know there's a short time before I disapear where I'm focusing on the teleport, and a short time afterward while I'm recovering. If me and calvin teleport with each other, (grab the other and teleport both of us) can we halve that downtime? If so, grab cal, then proceed with the beneath. Otherwise, just proceed.

I start teleporting psuedo randomly toward the door. (Psuedo random: not random, but targeting a little to the left, a little to the right, as far as I can safely go, a few feet shorter than that, basicly make myself as hard a target as possible.

im gonna teleport with him if that does work, if not then runn straight down the corridor using night vision, every ten feet look back for a split second to see if their are cloaked figures holding scythes standing anywhere nearby

You cant halve the downtime like that. You open portals, there isnt any way to open them faster without training.

You both run full-tilt towards the door. The lights flash off, then back on. Mort is standing directly in front of you, grinning widely and laughing. He has a pistol in each hand.

Why, why did I give him back weapons? Since when did lizardmen have to be bearers of goodwill?

He's directly in front of me. Teleport into him. As on top of him as I can. as soon as I can teleport again, warp everything inside his epidermal layer as far upwards as I can. and ensure that he stays above us. The epidermal layer, clothes, and weapons can stay.

And remind me to take a shower.

You teleport to Mort. When you arrive, you're grabbing nothing but air and Mort is behind you.

Teleport to the door, open door, go through door. WHa'ts around here?

There's a large helicopter pad there. There is nothing currently on the pad.

Well, now I'm up a building without a ladder. Time to reroll?

I do need to wait for Calvin though.

I'm gonna rush mort from behind (assuming he's still after sky) teleport my swords into him, generalized area of his body. then run up and teleport his head down a floor, and then his right arm to the right, left arm left, (through the walls or floor or cieling approprietly) his legs down, his stomach in upper and lower halfs, up and down respectively. Then run out the door and slam it closed behind me.

You rush Mort. He turns around quickly and his grin disappears. In fact, he frowns.

"I dont have time for you."

He leaps backwards out through the door, nearly floating backwards until he is fully out of the hallway. Before he lands, he raises both guns and fires a volley of bullets.

dodge and roll, and teleport down the tunnel towards him moving from the right side of the tunnel to the left and back and forth until i reach him or im riddled with bullets.

You dodge the initial volley, and begin to teleport-hop down the corridor. He fires again, but by this time you're teleporting too fast to hit. You reach the end of the hallway and teleport out onto the helicopter pad. He fires one more time, but you easily dodge. Two more leaps, and you finally reach him.

What other spells do I have besides teleport? Anything?

k teleport into him, like my body displacing his body. then use the prescribed details of teleporting pieces of him in various directions away from eachother and but bring the head with me, gag it and wrap it in any clothing he had. shuffle all his guns into a pile and teleport them onto the landing pad, then teleport out there myself. Close the landing pad door behind me.

I know- I was just wondering if dimension does much else. I mean, teleport is totaly worth it, and given the damage I would have just inflicted on any normal being, it's balanced. But I'm at the point where nothing else will take this guy down.

It can do many other things. None of which you know.

Sky, you see Mort leap out of the hallway, followed shortly by Calvin. The latter proceeds to seemingly merge with the former, right before Mort is torn to pieces (leaving calvin standing there). Mort's guns and equipment appear near the center of the helipad, and Mort's head is promptly gagged and bagged. You can vaguely hear the incomprehensible swears.

When everything calms down, you can hear the sound of an approaching helicopter.

Calvin triumphantly approaches you, obviously pleased at accomplishing something you were unable to do.

"In a second." Grab all of mort's knives and such, and his guns. Now kick mort's body over the side of the building.

"So, wanna try grabbing a lift with the helecopter, or just run on foot?"

It didnt work for you because all of Mort's attention was focused on you, and he had orders. Calvin is an unknown variable, and Mort was rather distracted by you.

just so yuo know mort's body is on SOOOOO many floors right now.. you cant kick it... I teleported each limb seperately in various directions of varying distances. and then bundled up the head...
I'll follow him to the helicopter pad and wait until it lands or hovers just within teleport range. Also every minute on the minute im checking morts head to make sure a neck isnt growing down from it...

Every time you check, it comes back a negative. He isnt regenerating his body. At least not yet, or not like that. Admittedly, your knowledge of his physiology is limited.

The helicopter hovers overhead for a moment, roughly 100 feet above. At first it appears they might leave, but another few seconds and 6 people come crashing down on the helipad. They all make rather large craters in the cement, but none appear to be hurt. The group consists of a single human man and five reptilian beasts. The man is between 5'10 and 6 feet tall, with a black jacket, dark blue jeans and a yellow T-shirt with a black radioactive symbol on it. He looks in his early 30's, with short black hair. The five others, though clearly reptiles, bear almost no resemblance to typical lizardmen. They are much more lean, and have unique sets of tusks protruding from their backs, and in one case, their head. All things considered, they appear as more of a dragon/human then a lizard/human. Instead of regular clothing or the leather armor of lizardmen, they wear tribal-looking kilts and cloaks. Each one has a leather belt (either belt or bandolier) containing a weapon. Most of these are axes, while one has a large club on it's back. The beast standing next to the human has both a belt and bandolier. The belt has a large pouch on it that looks full of something, and a variety of tools line the bandolier (including a wrench, a knife, a few screwdrivers and a group of tools that you cant identify). He's the only reptile to not carry a weapon.

The human stands up first and brushes himself off.

"A rare failure for those two... Which one was the target?" The question seems directed at the tool-weilding reptile.

"Was told target lizard. Obvious that one." He points to you, sky. "Other one not on list. What we do?"

"Why are you asking me? I dont really feel like talking to those two idiots again..."

"Typical human, disagreeable to last breath... Fine, I do this myself."

He steps forward and snarls.

"Greetings, weak ones. I Edison. Came to take cold-blooded one to Dark Lord. Would rather hurry this along, as have much work to do."

The human nudges him hard.

"Right, right. And return head. Also pieces of body in immediate vicinity..."

(Sorry for the long post. If you had assaulted the helicopter you would've died, and i didnt want that. It's a little bit of railroading to make you stand there while they said all of that, but it was either a few seconds of railroading or rerolling characters. Ill try not to do that again.)

fair enough, i was just hoping to get out of PVP style rping... anyways I'm gonna sigh and roll the head to them and then point in a general 180 behind me and explain the teleportation of many pieces many directions, then tell sky i'll probably still be here or at least making frequent stops by here if he ever needs me. then blink down the hallway fast as I can. If I run into 7 teleport him behind me and keep teleporting myself in a zigzag line...

Yes, it was always my intention to split you two up at some point. I hadnt really counted on you both taking violent characters, so Im giving each of you your own quest lines. It limits your ability to kill one another.

Although im not sure i expected you to ditch that fast.

Oh well. You manage to retreat as far as you want. 7 is nowhere in sight. He wasnt very interested in attacking you anyway. Although im sure Mort will have some choice words for you should he see you again.

You actually have it more or less. Both of you are essentially the flags.

Calvin tosses Mort's head to the reptile (hereafter racially called Ks'mall). Edison (the tool-bearing Ks'mall) tosses it haphazardly to the human, who ungags Mort.

"Bout fucking time guys! What the hell took you so long?"

"I had a little trouble remembering where your head would be.... The last few lines had you at the bunker 3 miles northwest... Sue me for the lousy memory, you green little prick."

"Fine, you unreliable fucks. Just put me back together and get me away from those two morons."

"Tell me about it, I never did get along with them. The lizard, a little bit. When he was human. Or a bear. Bears are much more agreeable. But lizardmen are always so hostile...."

Edison has pulled out a small, ornate pocket watch and has been anxiously tapping his foot to the passing seconds. He occasionally looks back to the other two, giving both of them an annoyed look.

"Hey morty boy, I've taken you apart twice now. You want me to punt your head over the side? Let's see you regrow that." Look at the new arrivals. "Not that I have any harssh feelingsss with you folksss. Just this ... what did you call him? 'green little prick.'"

"Fuck off, scales."

Edison and his compatriots take offense at this remark.

The human (Nixon) throws Mort's head into the helicopter.

"He talks way too much. Kids these days, right? So, you coming?"

"Me? Why should I? besssidesss the whole hunt and capture, take him alive ssstuff. I've taken two of you on without getting ssscratched. I'm not sssaying no, jussst what'sss in it for me? "

Nixon turns back to Edison.

"Told you. Same shit he said the last time... He isnt very original."


Nixon steps forward, until he's only seven or eight feet away from you.

"I've done this both ways. It's entirely up to you. I honestly dont care. Im far to intelligent to fall for the same bullshit more then twice. Just saying."

He lights up a black cigarette with a lighter the same shade of yellow as his shirt.

what am I, the dally llama? Dang omnificent NPCs. i'm getting retroactivly railroaded. Nice touch. Infuriating, but there's nothing to actualy get mad at.

You yell and teleport. His fist catches you in the jaw and you thump to the ground.

"I not possess linguistic skills necessary to explain Nixon's... Unique outlook on the world. Boss will explain everything when we arrive. Unless you wish turn around and go back to people wanting kill you. If you require incentive, then take this."

Edison tosses you a small cube. It looks mechanical, with layers of gears inscribed with runes.

IT IS NOT THE CENOBITE PUZZLE BOX. REALLY. IM NOT KIDDING HERE. SERIOUSLY GUYS.

"That has ability to contain more then any pack. Two-hundred pounds, or forty square feet. Wind largest circle four times to open. If you not want come, then give it back..."

Question- if I've done everything before (teleported away after cal, teleported into him, teleported behind him, just stood there, etc.) then how does he know which one I am going to do this time?

Test the bag of holding, then when it checks out, go into the helicopter with them.

The answers are one helicopter ride away.

You wind up the cube. When you release the cog, it begins to spin slowly. The many other gears follow, and moments later every gear in the cube is turning. The side you opened begins to light up, as if a light-bulb has turned on inside. The same side finally glows bright white. You try to put a scalpel inside, and once it touches the white it gets sucked into the cube. You reach inside to get it, your hand begins to feel immensely heavy and stretched. At first you feel nothing inside, but when you think of grabbing the scalpel your hand grasps it. You pull it out, though there is considerable resistance when you pull (though not enough to make the task too difficult). It seems to work fine.

You board the helicopter with no further resistance. Edison and his group board, Nixon taking the seat across from you. He taps on the pilot's helmet, and you see the ground slowly shrink as you take off. During the flight, Mort and Nixon have an interesting conversation about a television show you're relatively positive never existed. Edison sits at a small table, taking apart a small emergency radio stored in the back. Each piece he removes is immediately connected to an incomplete device removed from his satchel. The other reptiles have begun a dice game.

Eventually, you feel the helicopter descend and land. Emerging, you find yourself in an empty parking lot. Behind the vehicle is a short wire fence, and along the other three sides are two and three story brick buildings. A few neon signs indicate most of these buildings house bars. It's rather dark out, lit only by the signs and streetlights.

I put all the gear into my new cube of holding.

Other than that, I guess I'll join the dice game.

Alright. You join, but the rules elude you. One of the reptiles takes it upon himself to explain, but it doesnt seem like he speaks a language you understand.

Anyway, back to the present. Parking lot.

Hey, at this rate it's kinda late to do anything other than mouth off and/or make fun of Mortimer Toynbee (hey, does he have his head and body back right yet?) so I'm just going where they tell me to.

The group proceeds to an alleyway. At the far end, past a dozen doors, is a very large and particularly ominous metal door. Nixon taps on it, and a small window opens. Red eyes peer back for a moment and the slide slams shut. The entirety of the door shakes and creaks open. A tall bald man with dark sunglasses on 'greets' you. He ushers everyone in and down a flight of cracked wooden stairs. Below, music is blasting from speakers across the room. The atmosphere is one of alcohol and smoke. A crowd of young, attractive people are dancing in the center, while more gather at a bar on the far side.

Nixon taps you on the shoulder.

"Get yourself a drink. Gotta tell the boss we're here."

He and the others walk off.

How many lizardfolk? When you said attractive, I assume you do not mean that my character has some sort of odd attraction to fleshies?

No. A mix of various races, all apparently attractive for their species. Five or six of your kind.

Assuming there's an even gender spread, I'm going to approach a female toward the outside of the dancing, making sure to keep my back to a wall the whole time.

Eh, four females and two males.

What do you do when you approach her?

I don't know. I'm trying to decide between stabbing fleshlings randomly until someone tells me why I've been let loose in the bar, and asking for sidequests.

The female turns abruptly, having apparently just noticed you.

"Right where you're supposed to be. Where we're all supposed to be."

man, there are so many comments to that, bu t they all sound more like doulbe O seven more than lizardman.
Is she a normal lizard or a chameleon? If there were any chams, can I retcon that I walked up to her instead?
